Jurnal Identitas (Journal of Citizenship and Legal Identity Studies) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that provides a scholarly platform for critical and interdisciplinary research on citizenship, legal identity, population governance, and the elimination of racial and ethnic discrimination. The journal is published twice a year (March and September).

Aim and Scope

Jurnal Identitas (Journal of Citizenship and Legal Identity Studies) aims to advance interdisciplinary scholarship on citizenship, legal identity, and population governance, with particular attention to issues of equality and non-discrimination. The journal provides a forum for rigorous academic inquiry into the legal, political, administrative, and socio-cultural dimensions of state recognition, membership, and identity regulation.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:

  • Nationality and citizenship law
  • Migration and immigration governance
  • Legal identity frameworks and documentation systems
  • Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS)
  • Population administration and demographic governance
  • Statelessness and undocumented persons
  • Racial and ethnic discrimination in citizenship regimes
  • Citizenship theory and normative debates
  • Citizenship education in relation to legal identity and democratic participation

The journal welcomes doctrinal, socio-legal, empirical, theoretical, and policy-oriented research that contributes to the development of inclusive legal identity systems and equitable citizenship frameworks, particularly within Indonesia and comparative contexts.

Peer Review Process

Jurnal Identitas publishes original research articles, review articles, and policy-relevant analyses. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity, scholarly quality, and editorial independence.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The review process typically takes up to 16 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the revisions required.

Articles are published in Indonesian and English. English abstracts are provided for all articles to enhance international accessibility and academic exchange.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Jurnal Identitas (Journal of Citizenship and Legal Identity Studies) offers a fee-free publishing experience. There are no Article Processing Charges (APC) at any stage of the submission or publication process. All published content is made openly available and freely accessible to the public.

Anti-Endogeny Policy
Jurnal Identitas limits publications from editorial board members to no more than 25% of articles in any two consecutive issues to ensure diversity of perspectives and prevent endogamy in scholarly publishing.

Archiving

This journal guarantees the permanent preservation and uninterrupted accessibility of all published content through digital preservation systems.

Jurnal Identitas participates in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), which distributes content across a global network of libraries to ensure redundancy and long-term access.

The journal also participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to ensure secure and sustainable digital preservation.

Repository Policy

Authors may deposit all versions of their work (preprint, accepted manuscript, and published version) in institutional or subject repositories of their choice without embargo.
